Frequently Asked Questions
General Questions
-
Naturopathy, rooted in its core principles, is a holistic perspective towards health, intertwining contemporary scientific advancements with time-honoured healing traditions such as herbal and nutritional medicine. It recognises the inherent healing power of Nature as well as an innate regenerative ability we all possess. It seeks to educate individuals on prevention strategies while addressing the root cause of ailment. Finally, it acknowledges that we are all so incredibly unique, and advocates for personalised, patient-centred care.
-
In contrast to conventional medicine, which focuses more on symptomatic support and acute care, naturopathy works more preventatively and holistically, and focuses more on education and support in areas such as nutrition, sleep, movement, stress management and environmental considerations.
Both approaches have their strengths, and can be very complementary to each other.
Importantly, naturopathy is still evidence based, as it encompasses fields such as western herbal medicine, nutritional medicine and lifestyle medicine which have strong evidence behind, especially regarding their application to many modern chronic diseases.
-
Naturopathy can be beneficial for a wide range of individuals, but it may be particularly helpful for those who are seeking a holistic perspective on their health, those who are interesting in nutrition and natural medicines, those who want to address root causes, those who are interested in prevention and those who prefer patient-centred individualised care.
It's important to note that naturopathy should complement, not replace, conventional medical care, especially in cases of acute illness or emergencies. Consulting with a healthcare provider, whether naturopathic or conventional, can help individuals determine the best approach for their health needs.
-
Naturopathy can help with a wide range of conditions, including digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, fatigue, anxiety, stress, poor sleep, autoimmune disorders, chronic pain and other chronic conditions. Our personalised approach ensures that each treatment plan is tailored to the individual’s specific needs.

Nutritional Guidance
-
Nutrition is a cornerstone of naturopathic care. Proper nutrition supports overall health, helps prevent disease, and can be used therapeutically to address specific health concerns.
-
We provide personalised and practical nutritional advice based on your individual health needs and goals. This may include dietary recommendations, meal plans, and guidance on using food as medicine. I don’t recommend extremely restrictive diets or strict meal plans, as this doesn’t align with my ethos as a practitioner as I strive for clients to have diversity, abundance and freedom around food.
-
Not in every circumstance, but we may recommend supplements if necessary to support your health goals. We only suggest high-quality, evidence-based supplements tailored to your specific needs.
Holistic Health
-
To me, holistic health means acknowledging that there are many aspects of our lives and environment that may impact our health. In nature, nothing functions in isolation, and the body is no different. Each part of the body is so deeply connected to other parts, and it’s the interactions between these parts that often determines health outcomes.
Holistic advice also means advice is often multi-layered as to support all aspects of us, which includes the biochemical, biological, physical, mental, emotional, and environmental.
-
The interconnectedness of health, nutrition, and the environment is profound. I believe that when we start to re-connect to healthy farming practices and healthy ecosystems, human health outcomes are drastically improved. From more nutrient dense food, to cleaner water, better quality air, and reduced exposure to harmful chemicals are some examples of how we benefit.
I also believe that many of the principles that help regenerative ecosystems and soil, can be directly applied to human health - such as diversity, first do no harm, and allowing for synchronicity with nature.
-
Yes, naturopathy can be very effective in helping ease the symptoms of stress and anxiety. We use a combination of lifestyle changes, nutritional support, and natural therapies to help you achieve mental and emotional balance. As there are ‘no two alike’, recommendations are very much personalised to suit each person’s unique picture and situation.
Naturopathy can also be used safely and effectively alongside conventional medicines and therapies, however this needs to be done carefully and with a qualified and experienced practitioner to ensure safe and effective outcomes.
Accessibility Community
-
Through online consultations, community workshops, public speaking events and educational resources I aim to support people living in some of the most isolated parts of this beautiful country. I also understand the unique challenges faced by people living ‘off the beaten track’, and have provided nutrition support for the members of ‘Off the Track Training’, many of whom live rurally and remotely, for almost a decade.
